Agriculture Program
Our Agriculture program connects students with the land through hands-on learning in farming, livestock care, and sustainable practices. We offer nationally recognised VET qualifications and real-world experience. Students compete in events like the Northern Schools Prime Lamb & Steers Competition, local shows, Brisbane Ekka, and Dubbo Whether Competition. With dedicated teachers and modern resources, our small rural school proudly supports every student’s growth and success in agriculture and beyond.
Learning and support
Our Learning and Support Faculty includes four support classrooms dedicated to helping every student thrive through personalised programs, caring teachers, and inclusive environments. Students build confidence in literacy, numeracy, communication, and life skills. Hands-on experiences, such as volunteering at Tenterfield Railway Station and participating in community and sporting events, foster independence, teamwork, and pride. We celebrate every achievement and provide a nurturing space where all students can succeed.
Careers
Tenterfield High School, located in a rural area, provides many opportunities to help students succeed. Students take part in University Roadshows and visit UNE Open Day to learn about university options. The school offers the Educational Pathways Program, where students earn White Card certification, helping them prepare for jobs in construction and trades. Through a partnership with TAFE NSW’s Head Start Program, students get hands-on experience and training in construction and automotive trades with expert teachers. Many students also do school-based apprenticeships in local trades. This combination of learning and practical experience prepares students for both university and careers in high-demand fields.

Principal's message
I am proud to lead Tenterfield High School, a small rural school where students receive personalised support and many opportunities to achieve their best. Our main focus is delivering high-quality teaching and learning, and we continue to make great progress in this area.
As a small school, we are able to offer tailored learning and caring support to every student. Our students enjoy a wide range of sporting and extracurricular activities that enrich their school experience. We have strong programs in agriculture, vocational education, and the creative and performing arts. Many students are actively involved in the local community and represent us at the state level in various sports.
